Uncle Jay Explains: Oct. 11, 2010

Just as the miners in Chile get dug out, politicians in America dig to new depths.  Most candidates are proudly proclaiming, “Hey, he’s even worse than me!”   Not exactly Lincoln, but it’ll have to do.  Uncle Jay explains.

How do I get one of those 1000 jobs at the Supreme Court? I have no experience, so that should make me qualified, right?

Always the best play on words Uncle Jay. I too am scared, but my uncle Rush says it will all go away in November. Hope he’s right!!

    Hi Oncle J:
Octavian, the 1st Roman emperor, began a program whereby prospective canidates for high office were exposed to a “classic” education (science, philosophy, art, etc), and Roman leaders were chosen from among the members of this group of highly literate people. This seemed to work pretty well, until they ran out of eligible people from which to choose. I think we’re having a similar problem today.

    Dear Uncle Jay -

I couldn’t help but notice that you had a political ad on your web site for Jerry Brown in California – my state. Are you for him? I ask, because I don’t know who to vote for and would just as soon have someone more knowledgeable tell me who is the better one. Perhaps the USA should just have newscasters and reporters vote. They would be better since they could even use all the really good “off the record” stuff that I never get to hear and therefore make a better choice!

    Uncle Jay replies:
Uncle Jay makes no personal endorsements of the Google Ads on his website. They are all automatically generated, based on each page’s content. So if, for example, a page has the word “politics” or “Congress,” you may see an ad for any candidate, or perhaps mouthwash or ammonia.

I am not trying to be snarkie…If you don’t know who to vote for, you have 3 choices.
1 educate yourself on the candidates
    2 don’t vote
3 vote against the incumbent “let’s give some one else a chance to make some special interest money”

What ever you do, don’t take someone else’s word as truth. Even Uncle Jay who would never lie to you.

I keep hearing about our country’s debt, will anybody ever do anything about this and if so who?
