  1. Carl Burney Says:

Love your weekly videos. I must say however, that I don’t quite get your dig at Rush in this weeks episode. I guess that would be because like everyone else who takes potshots at him you only manage to make yourself look “Duh” in how you do it. It’s extremely rare that anyone who criticizes him actually listens to his show, choosing instead to listen to other Rush-bashers who also don’t listen to his show but still love to use out of context sound bites to bash him. Probably 95% of the things he’s criticized for saying are things he either never said or is something twisted out of context. The other common thread among every Rush critic I’ve ever heard is that they never address an issue that they disagree with him about and prove that it’s wrong. It’s one of the reasons I am such a devoted listener to his show. If there is something you disagree with him about I would genuinely love to hear it. It’s not that Rush or even myself are ashamed of being labeled as a conservative or “right-winger”. I don’t even mind being called zealous. However, your dig at Rush was a cheap shot and obviously not meant in a complimentary way. It only serves to diminish the trust I have in what you have to say.

    Dear Carl Burney:

Uncle Jay does this type of thing all the time, I think its his way of being fair and balanced. *grins* Nevertheless, you and I know where Uncle Jay is politically, don’t we (DUH) – Uncle Jay did the same thing with the late President Reagan (don’t we need him now) and Pat Robertson. In Summary, Uncle Jay is a moderate at best, pretending to be Fair and Balanced. And now its Time.

  3. Matt G. Says:

@Carl. It doesn’t matter what Jay thinks of Rush. The point was not his personal opinion so much as it was a view that liberal media take on Rush. He also pointed out what conservative media might think of Elena Kegan.
The only bias here is a bias that was already established by two very strongly biased political parties. I doubt Uncle Jay had much to do with that.

  4. Dave S Says:

    Amen, Matt.

  5. Joe Says:

Why was there so little reported about Chelsea Clinton’s wedding. Is the media slipping in doing their job of keeping us little ones informed? Chelsea is not a child anymore, so the media should be able to talk about her…they report on other politicos children. Maybe UJ can get to the bottom of this for us.

  6. Jeffery G Says:

Not your best episode Uncle Jay. It must have been a slow news week, because it seems to me like it was all empty filler–sort of like the 24 hour news channels.

Still a fan–and I think Carl missed your point bashing talking heads at both extremes.

  7. RC Matthias Says:

    Dear Curtis,
Wouldn’t the moderate outlook be the fair and balanced point of view? After all radical conservatism and radical liberalism have one thing in common; they are both radical. Neither point of view is either correct or wrong 100% of the time, as their opponent would have you think. I believe most of America falls between the two radical parties, somewhere in the middle(moderate), and gravitate toward one partyu or the other (because they are the only viable options), and are never totally satisfied with their chosen parties full political platform

  8. RightWingNutJob Says:

Well stated, Matt. Keep in mind everyone, that Uncle Jay wasn’t bashing Rush personally so much as calling him the favorite punching bag of the liberal media, comparing him to Elena Kagan who acts as the punching bag of the conservative media. It was quite fair and balanced in that Uncle Jay voiced no personal opinions towards either. As for Reagan (my favorite pres) and Pat Robertson (who’s whole “Haiti is damned” routine made me laugh), please don’t take it personally when they are occasionally looked at humorously.

  9. Lonnie Says:

Good one this week, Uncle Jay. I didn’t see any bias either way, and frankly I liked his response to Brad’s questions- read before you vote!

    P.S. Good resposne, Matt.

  10. Donna Says:

This is why I go to BBC and Uncle Jay to find out what’s going on. And, oh, yes, to my local paper, which is somehow surving, for the local news.

(Yes, I know that last sentence was a fragment).

  11. alan falk Says:

    UJ, Matt, Dave and Lonnie…

    BIG AMEN!!!!!

and Carl… chill, man…, this is called “humor,” even when it’s making fun of YOUR SIDE, too… if you can’t stand the heat… :))))))

  12. Pat Says:

I disagree with Jeffrey G. I liked this episode very much. And I particularly liked the skewiering of local “news” reporters standing inf front of (for instance) the local police hewadquarters to talk about an arrest for a crime tha took place days or weeks ago and ignoring the fact that the perp never went near the police station. He went to central booking directly from the division headquarters where he was taken upon arrest. And those scenes with the flashing lights in the (far) background are also riventing – NOT. Thanks for taking up one of my per peeves.

  13. Pat Says:

Formerly spelled “skewering” and “in” and “headquarters” and “riveting” and, finally, “pet.” And now it’s Time.

  14. Marc Boin Says:

For anyone that is interested, what Uncle Jay presents in his weekly segments is called satire. It is not meant to offend or upset anyone, other than those that are “humor challenged.” DUH.

  15. Ried Says:

    Duh? Huh?

  16. Jess Says:

Awesome episode – loved the local news thing. They can make a nothing into a story that lasts hours and hours…most irritating. Also, like Lonnie, I liked the News Question – if only congressmen (and women) read the bills too, huh?

  17. Robert O Says:

A technical masterpiece; and also intellectually satisfying.

“…I should have been a pair of ragged claws
Scuttling across the floors of silent seas.”

  18. kathy Says:

    THX Uncle Jay,
    Refreshingly entertaining.
Tho shot of the man walking forward and your face inserted facing backwards was LOL. Loved it.
